Rye Meads is a 58.5-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Rye House, Hertfordshire. It is one of series of wetlands and reservoirs situated along the River Lea. This delightful wetland reserve beside the River Lee is a firm favourite with walkers, birdwatchers and photographers thanks to its many trails and hides. The HMWT site is an ancient flood meadow that has a variety of habitats including reedbed, marshy grassland and fen. It is grazed by ponies and water buffalo.

A large grotto, built by a Quaker poet in the 1760s and restored by the Ware society. It survives from an eighteenth-century rococo garden. It is a Grade I listed building and with six chambers the most extensive shell grotto in the United Kingdom. The grotto is set into the northeast face of a hill, and comprises an entrance hall and a series of six chambers extending over 65 feet into and 30 feet below the chalk hillside, together with air shafts, light wells, and connecting passages.

Home to one of the tallest church spires in Europe, this historic church once played host to King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. . Built more than 850 years ago, St Mary’s is topped by one of the highest spires in Europe and is said to house secret tunnels. The building is cruciform in shape, with a chancel (the first part to be built), a nave, south and north transepts, and a tower. A spire, one of the tallest in Europe, was added in the 14th century with a total height of 200 feet.

Approximately 7 miles long, the Nickey Line footpath and cycleway in Hertfordshire is a former railway line. The Nickey Line now forms a pleasant green corridor, a footpath and a cycleway, forming part of the National Cycle Network, providing attractive countryside and woodland walks, as well as a traffic-free route to school or work. The route is approximately seven miles long.

Therfield Heath is an area of Common Land and most of it is a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is owned by the Therfield Regulation Trust, which is a registered charity. It is managed by the Conservators of Therfield Heath and Greens. The Heath is a common on which sheep are still regularly grazed. It has also been designated as a biological 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' and a 'Local Nature Reserve'.

Tring Local History Museum reflects all aspects of life in and around Tring from the earliest days until the recent past, and records events, objects and the people who lived there. Verulamium Park is set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland close to the city centre and is a popular attraction throughout the year with wide range of facilities. The Park is named after the Roman City of Verulamium on which it stands. The City walls and outline of the London Gate can still be seen. Verulamium Museum displays hundreds of remarkable objects that have been excavated from the ground. A main feature of the Park is the ornamental lake.

The Warner Bros. Welwyn Roman Baths is a 3rd-century bath complex that formed part of the Dicket Mead Roman villa. The baths lie directly underneath the A1(M) motorway, protected by a steel vault. The baths were a small part of the Dicket Mead villa, which was originally built in the 3rd century AD.

Whippendell Wood comprises of 165 acres of ancient woodland located close to Cassiobury Park. Since 1954 Whippendell Wood has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the woodland habitats present and its location in a predominantly urban and agricultural setting. The wood is open to the public, and there are several footpaths and orienteering routes through the wood. The wood is popular with dog walkers, and is also used as a shortcut to Cassiobury Park.
