The Meereszentrum Fehmarn is a show aquarium in Burg on the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn. Sharks and tropical coral gardens are presented on an area of 3000 m² or 4 million liters of seawater. In the 3 million liter ocean aquarium there are several types of shark. In a 0.4 million liter tank with an underwater tunnel, there are rays and groupers. The tropical marine animals such as corals, jellyfish, seahorses, and coral fish have presented in around 35 individual aquariums.
The Sylt Aquarium in the south of the city of Westerland on Sylt is a zoological garden that specializes in fish from the North Sea and tropical fish from coral reefs. The aquarium, inaugurated in 2004, is located directly on the dune belt and draws its freshwater through a direct pipeline from the North Sea. It has 25 saltwater pools with around 2000 fish. It has a glass tunnel that visitors can walk through under a pool.
