Botanical Gardens to Explore in Saxony-Anhalt
The Europa-Rosarium in Sangerhausen has the largest rose collection in the world. Today more than 8,600 rose species and rose varieties, over 57 rose classes - a total of around 80,000 rose bushes are planted on an area of 13 hectares. These include around 500 different species and forms of wild roses. The rosarium is operated by the GRF Foundation Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen.
Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm is a cultural landscape in Saxony-Anhalt that is significant throughout Europe and consists of several buildings and landscape parks based on the English model. The garden realm today covers an area of 142 km² along the Elbe in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since November 2000 . It was included in the Blue Book published in 2001.
