The Domaine du Grand Macabou is a protected natural site located in the town of Le Marin in Martinique. The area was a former plantation Sugar Cane in the xvii th century and xviii th century. Following the decline in agricultural production, the farm was abandoned, and the land was gradually covered by thorny savannah. The Martinique Regional Natural Park is one of the 54 French regional natural parks. Covering an area of approximately 63,000 ha, its territory encompasses 32 of the island's 34 municipalities and concerns approximately 100,000 inhabitants. The PNR preserves one of the 34 biodiversity hotspots on the planet, the Antilles archipelago, listed as such because of the high rate of endemism in the islands and the threats weighing on this treasure of biodiversity.
