The Andermatt-Sedrun Sports AG, a subsidiary of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, operates the ski areas Gemsstock, Nätschen-Gütsch-Schneehüenerstock and Sedrun-Oberalp under the name SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun. With 120 kilometers of slopes, this is the largest ski area in Central Switzerland.
The base Furka Tunnel goes from Realp in Canton Uri to Oberwald in Canton Valais. The car train is convenient, and the trip through the 15.4 km tunnel takes 15 minutes. In the middle of the base tunnel, is a 5,221-meter long access tunnel to Bedretto in the canton of Ticino. some proponents of the project hoped to eventually build a Y-shaped tunnel connecting all 3 locations.
The Gotthard Road Tunnel in Switzerland runs from Göschenen in the canton of Uri at its northern portal, to Airolo in Ticino to the south, and is 16.9 kilometers in length below the St Gotthard Pass, a major pass of the Alps. At the time of construction, in 1980, it was the longest road tunnel in the world. It is currently the ninth longest one.
The funicular - one of the steepest aerial cable cars - takes visitors to the spectacular Piora Valley, one of the most untouched areas of Ticino. It is an ideal starting point for many hiking and biking excursions, it offers great opportunities to admire the rich vegetation and the large variety of alpine flowers, lush green meadows where cows and horses graze peacefully, and to see the open sky reflected in the clear waters of several alpine lakes.
The Rotondo hut is located at 2570 meters above the Witenwasserental and borders the cantons of Ticino and Valais. Every year around 3000 overnight guests and many day visitors enjoy their stay in our official hut. The hut is an ideal and popular starting point for mountain lovers of all ages. In summer, the area offers various hiking opportunities in the Uri Alps.
At Tellsplatte, 3 kilometers south of Sisikon, the place where, according to the legend, William Tell jumped overboard during a storm, when transferred by boat to the bailiff Gessler's jail. An easy walk in a beautiful landscape to Tell's Chapel, with nearby the biggest glockenspiel in Switzerland
