Abbotsbury Swannery is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans. Visitors to the Swannery can help hand feed over 600 swans at 12.00 noon and 4.00pm daily, which is an experience not to be missed. The accompanying talk from the swanherd provides an enaging and informative insight into these graceful birds.

Battlefield Falconry Centre has a wonderful collection of over 30 birds, and a good variety of species of owl, hawk, and falcon. There is a Hawk Walk, a Bird of Prey Experience, and a Bird Handling session to choose from, all of which give older kids a chance to get close to, and even fly some beautiful birds. Full training and equipment are provided, plus some interesting information about the birds from the experienced falconer.

Birdland Park and Gardens is home to 500 birds in Bourton-On-The-Water in Gloucestershire. Birdland began in the 5-acre grounds of a Tudor manor house called Chardwar and was started by Len Hill, who was often referred to as the Penguin Millionaire They have over 130 species of birds including penguins, pelicans, flamingos, cranes, and storks. Many of the species are now part of active breeding programs controlled by studbooks in co-operation with European and International organizations.

For kids, there are two adventure play areas and an owl maze. We also have other activities that range from Easter egg hunts to finding out information about the birds.

Tropical Birdland in the north of the village of Desford, Leicestershire, England was set in 5 acres of natural woodland with walk-through aviaries, baby bird viewing room, over 70 species including toucans, emus, owls, macaws and parrots. The variety of walk through aviaries are home to lots of these beautiful birds, many of which love a scrummy mealworm so if you’ve got some going spare then draw the birds in a bit closer.
