Deserts to explore in Australia
Sixth largest country in the world, lying between Pacific and Indian Ocean. Home to natural features and bio diversity that is not seen in any other part of the world.
Murray-Sunset National ParkUnderbool Track, Murray-Sunset VIC 3490, Australia
A favorite for bushwalkers as the nearest semi-arid region to Melbourne. Hikes include circuits of Lake Crosbie and Lake Kenyon, and the three-day Sunset walking track. The special attraction here is the pink lakes. In late summer a red pigment, carotene, is secreted from the alga Dunaliella salina and gives a distinct pink color to the lake.
