Van Schaick IslandVan Schaick Island is a historic island located in the Mohawk River in Albany, New York. It is situated just a few miles away from the Ten Broeck Mansion, the Erastus Corning II Tower, the Opalka Gallery, the Albany Center Gallery, the Albany Rural Cemetery, Historic Cherry Hill, Albany City Hall, and the Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence. The island was initially settled by Dutch settlers in the early 17th century, and was the site of a major Revolutionary War battle in 1777.
