A beautiful island near Bakhali. The name, Henry's Island, is derived from a British explorer who arrived on the island back in the 19th century. The place is famous for its tranquillity, its virgin beach and the crabs that thrive on it.
The temple of Kapil Muni is situated on the Sagar Island is dedicated to Kapil Muni. The current structure is a recent one and it has a stone block, considered to be the representation of Sage Kapil. There is also a ‘Gangasagar Mela’ held in the place, which is said to be the largest fair in West Bengal.
Gangasagar or Sagar Island is an island in the Ganges delta, lying on the continental shelf of Bay of Bengal about 100 km south of Kolkata. The island is large with an area of 224.3 kms. Gangasagar is a charming tourist destination, which attracts both pilgrims and adventure lovers.
