Bhagalpur

hagalpur is located in the southern region of Bihar. It is one of the oldest districts of Bihar and is situated in the Ganga basin at 141 ft above the sea level. The city is spread on an area of 2569 sq. km. It Lies between 25° 07′ – 25° 30′ N Latitude and between 86° 37′ – 87° 30’E longitude. The district is surrounded by Munger, Khagaria, Madhepura, Purnea, Katihar and Banka districts of Bihar, Godda and Sahebganj districts of Jharkhand.

Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary

Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary is located in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India. The sanctuary is a 60 km stretch of the Ganges River from Sultanganj to Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur District. Designated in 1991, it is a protected area for the endangered Gangetic dolphins in Asia. Once found in abundance, only a few hundred remains, of which half are found here.
