30 Mountain Passes to Explore in India

Sela Pass lake is a high-altitude mountain pass located on the border between the Tawang and West Kameng Districts of Arunachal Pradesh state in India. It has an elevation of 4170 m (13,700 ft) and connects the Indian Buddhist town of Tawang to Dirang and Guwahati. The pass carries the National Highway 13 connecting Tawang with the rest of India.

Shingo La is a mountain pass in India, on the border between Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. There is a shallow lake or pool 20m below the pass. The pass is on a long-distance footpath linking Zanskar and Lahaul. used often by locals and trekkers alike. For trekkers, it is one of the technically easiest 5000m passes in Indian Himalaya, involving no glacier trekking nor steep climbs. There is snow on the pass all year round, although in the summer only a small stretch of snow has to be passed.

Sinthen top is a mountain pass, a popular tourist destination located between South Kashmir's Breng Valley (Sub-District Kokernag) in Anantnag district and Kishtwar in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Most of the part lies on Kishtwar side.

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The middle land", i.e. the land between Tiber and India. Swargarohini is a mountain massif in the Saraswati (Bandarpunch) Range of the Garhwal Himalaya. It lies in the Uttarkashi District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, west of the Gangotri group of peaks. It comprises four separate peaks: Swargarohini I is the main peak, and is the subject of this article. While not particularly high by Himalayan standards, and not the highest in the Bandarpunch range, Swargarohini I is notable for its dramatic local relief.

High mountain pass at an elevation of 5,328 meters. Although claims to be the worlds second highest motorable pass, it is actually 12th or so highest motorable pass.

Wayanad Churam (Wayanad Ghat Pass), popularly known as Thamarassery Churam connects Kozhikode and Wayanad districts of Kerala State in Southern India through national highway 212. The pass begins from Adivaram at the bottom of Kozhikode District and ends at Lakkidi at the top of Wayanad District. Wayanad Churam is located 800 meters above sea level and has a length of 18 kilometres.

High mountain pass at an elevation of 3,528 meters. It is often closed during winter, driving through the pass in winter means driving between thick walls of ice on both sides.
