Simdega district is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India, and Simdega town is the administrative headquarters of this district. This district is the least population density district of jharkhand(2011).This district was carved out from erstwhile Gumla district on 30 April 21. It is currently a part of the Red Corridor.

Ram Rekha Dham is a holy place located 28 km from Simdega in Ranchi. As per legends Lord Ram, Sitadevi and Lord Laxman stayed here for some days during their fourteen years' exile. This temple in a picturesque spot on a hill attracts many tourists. The temple inside a bowed cave has the idols of Lord Ram, Sitadevi, Lord Laxman, Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva.
