About Fort National
Fort National is a beautiful fort that was located on a tidal island a few hundred meters off the walled city of Saint-Malo. The great military architect Vauban had built it in 1689 to protect Saint-Malo's port. It was originally called Fort Royal. In 1789 Its name became Fort d'Îlette or Républicain, then Fort Impérial and, after 1870, Fort National. This was originally the site of a beacon that was lit at night to act as a lighthouse. An ancient cathedral which was one of the Benedictine Abbey built in Romanesque style in the 12th century. The architecture of this church is truly wonderful and it gives an idea about the architectural intelligence of ancient times. there are tombs of Jacques Cartier and Duguay-Trouin in the chapel. It was one of the main pilgrimage centres in this area and also one of the famous tourist attraction too.
One of the small and beautiful islands in Bri8tanny. It was least used and was largely destroyed during World War II, and was not rebuilt. Today it is best known as the location of the tomb of one of St-Malo's favorite sons, the romantic writer/diplomat/soldier François-René de Chateaubriand. At low tide, the island can be reached on foot from the nearby Bon-Secours beach. On the island are the remains of an ancient fort.
The majestic Solidor tower was built from 1369 to 1382 on a rocky ledge overlooking the outlet of the Rance. It is a dungeon composed of three towers connected by curtain walls. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1886, the Solidor Tower has been home to the Long Course Museum and Cap Hornier since 1970. One of the main attractions in this area and it attracts a lot of tourists.

A beautiful river in northern France which was used by the Rance Tidal Power Station and is located in a nice area and the banks of this river is a nice picnic location. You can spend time fishing and also by so many other activities. It flows for 60 kilometers past Dinan to form an estuary on the Brittany coast of the English Channel at Saint-Malo, here the world’s first large-scale tidal plant, using flood and ebb tides to generate electricity, was completed in 1967.
