Fulehuk fyr is a lighthouse built in the early 1800's on the archipelago Rauer due southeast from Østre Bolæren. It was lit for the first time in 1821 and was closed as a lighthouse in 1989. The lighthouse offer accommodation up to 40 people in the lighthouse and Naustloftet. The lighthouse itself is operated by the association of Fuglehuks friends, looked after by the foundation Fulehuk Fyr. This exhibition focuses on themes such as Norwegian discoveries and presence in the Antarctic, cultural meetings in the context of the whaling industry, family life and gender roles. The exhibition is largely based on the museum’s collections, as well as material on loan.
