Schwerin Castle - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

It is the main theatre in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The theatre has 650 seats and is used to perform plays, opera, musical theatre and ballet. It was built between 1883 - 1886 after the previous theatre was destroyed by a fire.

It is called Schweriner Dom in German, an Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral located in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It was established by Henry the Lion in the late 12th century. The tower, is 117.5 meters high and was built between 1889 - 1893. It has the tallest church spire in the state.

The 24 km² large Schaalsee is a lake on the border between Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Germany It is one of the deepest lakes in Germany and was in 2019 as a Living Lake of the Year Award. It was home to a good population of large predatory fish and also there are several islands and peninsulas in the Schaalsee, of which the Kampenwerder peninsula is the largest.

The Ratzeburger See is a lake in the southeast of Schleswig-Holstein in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. Amidst the lake is an island upon which the City of Ratzeburg is located, accessible from the mainland via three isthmuses. The island is home to the Old Town, including a cathedral - one of the oldest in Germany.

Elbe-Lübeck Canal is a German waterway connecting the Elbe River at Lauenberg with the Baltic Sea at Lübeck. The waterway, 64 km (40 miles) long, was built in 1895–1900 to replace the medieval Stecknitz Canal. The modern canal was built in the 1890s to replace the Stecknitz Canal, a medieval watercourse linking the same two rivers.

The St. Annen Museum Quarter is located in the buildings of the former St. Anne's Monastery in Lübeck. It was founded in 1915 and is one of the locations of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck Cultural Foundation, the Lübeck museums. The Museum Quarter is not far from the Aegidienkirche in St.-Annen-Straße in the south-east of Lübeck's old town next to the synagogue and includes the St. Annen Museum, the St. Annen Art Hall, and the museum administration in the outbuildings of the former monastery.
