The Great Lake to Lake Trail is one of the most unique and picturesque trails in the Midwest. Stretching from Lake Michigan in the east to Lake Huron in the west, it takes over 60 miles of lush forestry, hilly terrain and coastal wetlands to complete this journey. Along this route, you'll pass through historic sites such as Fort Custer State Park and Westward Ho Natural Area and experience an abundance of nature's richest wildlife.

The Gardner House Museum, is the perfect destination for visitors who want to explore the history and heritage of the state. This elegant wood-frame Victorian home was built over a hundred years ago by William and Mary Gardner in 1875. It contains beautiful pieces from the 19th century, including furniture and clothing garments that once belonged to the couple. In addition to these fascinating artifacts, visitors can explore documents.

Brooks Nature Area is a stunning nature reserve. Miles of hiking trails surrounded by majestic forests filled with a wide variety of wildlife creates an idyllic setting for visitors. There are two ponds at the site and it is home to Bald eagles, ospreys, deer, coyotes, and beavers. You will also find a canoe launch on the rivers to start your paddling journey through this unique area. Amenities are available such as picnic tables and grills which makes it perfect for families.

Lime Lake, is a picturesque 175-acre body of water that offers a variety of recreational activities. The Governor's Mansion is a stunning piece of architecture from the mid-1800s featuring classic Victorian-style detailing. With its grand curved staircase, tall brick chimneys and steeply pitched roof, this landmark stands out from the rest of the stately homes in the county. Inside, visitors can find beautifully crafted hardwood floors throughout with intricately detailed fireplaces, as well as lavish furniture and artwork. The Mansion also features a stunning library.

The U.S. Postal Museum is a great place to explore the history of mail delivery throughout the United States. Visitors to the museum can explore its five permanent galleries, which showcase items such as stamps, postal uniforms, and a variety of mail carriers from throughout the years. Those interested in local or regional history will be particularly excited by the additional exhibits telling stories from different eras, and collections of artifacts.
