A small cantonment area in Arunachal Pradesh, Walong is the eastmost town where the first sun rays fall in India. Walong is mainly known for its memorials to the Indians died during the 1962- Sino-Indian War. The memorial is located on the road leading North to Kibithu. There are also two small temples, located in on 'Helmet Top', a hill position some 18 kilometers away.

Namdapha National Park is large protected area in Arunachal Pradesh of Northeast India. With more than 1,000 floral and about 1,400 faunal species, it is a biodiversity hotspot in the Eastern Himalayas. The national park harbours the northernmost lowland evergreen rainforests in the world at 27°N latitude. It also harbours extensive dipterocarp forests, comprising the northwestern parts of the Mizoram-Manipur-Kachin rain forests ecoregion.
