Famous Hindu pilgrimage site in Nainital. According to the legends, Naina Devi temple came into existence when Lord Shiva was carrying the corpse of Sati, and her eyes fell to the ground where the temple currently stands. The town, the lake, and the temple borrow its name Naina (eyes) Devi temple. Finding its ways from Kushan period, popularly known as Nanda or Naina Devi in the Kumaon region.

The lake is bounded by the high and steep Naina peak on the North West side, by the Tiffin Top to the southwest side and snow view peaks on the north. Coniferous forest trees cover these hill ranges. The lake receives flows from the surrounding catchment basin which comprises the hill slopes and springs.

The second Raj Bhavan or Governor's House of Uttarakhand is located in Nainital, it is the summer retreat of the Governor of Uttarakhand. In the pre-Independence era, Nainital served as the summer capital of United Provinces and this building, built like a Scottish castle was christened as the "Government House". Raj Bhavan was built by British as residence of Governor of then North-Western Provinces.

Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo is a high altitude zoo situated in Nainital, Uttarakhand. Established in 1984 and opened to the public in 1995, it is situated on the Sher Ka Danda hill at a height of 2,100 meters (6,900 ft) above sea-level and is spread over 4.6 hectares (11 acres). It is the only High Altitude Zoo in north India, besides those in Darjeeling and Sikkim. Over the years it has become a popular tourist attraction.

Famous temple devoted to Lord Hanuman. Built in 1950 by the Neem Karoli Baba, Hanuman Garhi is located on the south side of Tallital. Inside the temple, one can see an idol of Lord Hanuman portrayed as splitting his chest and showing that Lord Ram is residing in his heart. Best time to visit Hanuman Garhi is during evening hours, when the sun starts gliding below the horizons, leaving behind hues of orange, which makes the sky look picturesque.
