Topaz Mountain is located in Park County, Colorado. The peak of the mountain is 12,933 feet (3,947 m) tall, making it one of the tallest mountains in the state. The name "Topaz" comes from the fact that the mountain is home to a topaz mine. The first recorded ascent of the mountain was made by a group of miners in 1873. In 1874, a geological survey team led by Ferdinand V. Hayden became the first scientific expedition to summit the mountain. Today, Topaz Mountain is a popular destination for hikers and climbers. The summit can be reached via a relatively easy trail that leads through alpine meadows and forests. From the top of the mountain, there are sweeping views of the nearby mountains and valleys.

5. Please refrain from smoking in the park. cigarette butts are unsightly and can be harmful to wildlife.
6. Be aware that cell phone service is often spotty in the area, so it's a good idea to have a backup plan in case you lose service.

To reach Topaz Mountain in Park County, Colorado, take Highway 285 south from Fairplay for about 12 miles. Turn left (east) onto 4 Mile Creek Road and drive 1.5 miles to the trailhead. The trail to the summit of Topaz Mountain is a relatively easy hike, gaining only about 600 feet in elevation over the course of 2 miles. 

There is no entrance fee for the park, however, visitors are encouraged to leave a donation at the trailhead.

The mountain is open from sunrise to sunset and the time may vary depending on the season.
