Things to Do at Lost Gulch Overlook

Lost Gulch Overlook offers the possibility of just hanging out and watching the sunset without having to hike up a mountain. The drive up Flagstaff mountain is scenic and winding, and it is a perfect spot for those that aren't quite used to hiking and still want to get some super high views.

From the dirt parking lot, you will have to head northwest towards the cliff overlook, or east towards a nicely wooded area with picnic tables and a great view over the plains and downtown Boulder. The walk is less than 0.1 miles, but it does cover some very uneven ground and steep rocks.

The overlook has great views of the nearby mountains and easy parking. From the Lost Gulch Overlook cliff top, you can see past Nederland into the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Rocky Mountain National Park. You can also hike in this area but if you have kids, watch them like a hawk because many spots have dangerous cliffs.

The area provides several different offerings in terrain, from the stunning overlook to the nearby trees that are either covered with wildflowers in the summer, or snow in the Winter months. The Overlook itself is an incredible location for both Sunrise & Sunset.
