Efteling - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

The Stoomcarrousel is an attraction of the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. It is an indoor carousel situated in what is now known as the "Carousel Palace". There also is a bar area within the salon carousel. The area surrounding these carousels was normally used for entertainment, eating and dancing in past times.

The Fairytale Forest is a 15-acre wooded section of the amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands, where a number of well-known fairy tales and fairy tale figures are depicted by animated statues and buildings.The first ten fairy tales were: the Chinese Nightingale, Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Gnome Village, The Six Servants, the Naughty Princess, Kleine Message, the Frog Prince, the Magic Clock, Lady Hollow's Well and Snow White.

Anton Pieckplein is a square in the Efteling , named after one of the founders of the park: Anton Pieck . It has a nostalgic atmosphere with antique merry -go-rounds and various catering outlets. The square was named after Pieck in 1954, to recognize him for his great influence on the success of the Fairytale Forest . The square, with old-fashioned houses and merry-go-rounds, was also designed by him.

The People of Laaf is an attraction in the amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands. It is a small village, called “Lavelaer”, inhabited by the so-called “Laafs”. The visitors can walk through the village and enter the houses, among which a bakery, a brewery, a windmill and a nursery and watch the Laafs do their normal daily activities.

Baron 1898 is a steel floorless diving roller coaster in the Dutch amusement park Efteling . The attraction is located in Ruigrijk , between the Flying Dutchman , the Gondoletta and the Piraña.

Villa Volta is a madhouse in the Dutch amusement park De Efteling . It is an attraction that creates the illusion that people are going over the head. The house was designed by Ton van de Ven and it was built in 1995 by Vekoma . At the opening it was the first attraction of its kind, since then the type has been widely imitated in other amusement parks. In 1997 Villa Volta won a Thea Award.
