About Winschoterdiep

The Winschoterdiep is the canal that runs from Groningen, from the connection to the Eemskanaal, to Winschoten where it splits into the Rensel , the last part to Winschoten, and the connection to the Pekel A. The Winschoterdiep is the continuation of the Schuitendiep that was dug from Groningen to Foxhol around 1400. The name Winschoterdiep only became fashionable around 1840.
