Chilika Lake - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

Mangalajodi is Birds' paradise. More than 200 species of birds both resident and migratory are found in this area of Chilika Lake, the beautiful blue lagoon, at different points of time in a year. The flying architecture of Godwits under bright sunshine is mind blowing and fabulous. The silver and black clouds appearing alternatively and suddenly at few hundred feet away from one's boat while on travel mesmerize one's intrinsic thought of being immersed with the beauty of this part of world.

Chilika is largest brackish water estuarine Lake of Asia. It sprawls over an area of 1100 sqkms. Covering parts of three districts of Odisha i.e Puri on the East, Khurda on the North and Ganjam on the South. It is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest lagoon in the World. Satapada is one of the most popular tourist place of Odisha.

Shree jagannath Temple, Puri is an important Hindu temple dedicated to lord jagannath. The temple is an important pilgrimage destination. The present temple was rebuilt from the 10th century onwards, on the site of an earlier temple, and begun by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva.

Rajhurajur is known as crafts village of Odisha. This place is famous for the beautiful crafts developed by the villagers. Villagers or the craftsmen of this place were supplying decorative items to temples and Mathas (temples constructed mostly by famous devotees located around Sri Jaganatha temple.) of Puri. They also supply Patas which used in the throne of Lord Jaganatha inside temple. During car festival several the chariots are decorated by paints of these artisans.

It is a pre-secondary and Secondary school, located at Sakhigopal (Satyabadi block), a part of puri district, in the Indian state of Odisha. It was established by renowned writer and social worker Gopabandhu Das in 1909 (British India). According to Das, schools had to become man-making industries and had to be instrumental in the harmonious development of a child's personality.

Atri is famous for its perennial Hot Spring. The hot spring is reputed to have medical properties which is used both intensively and extensively for the cure of skin diseases. The water of the Hot Spring (57 degrees centigrade) contains small doses of sulphur flavour when heated to 100 degree centigrade.
