The Monatsschlössl is on the Hellbrunner mountain in the park of Hellbrunn Palace in the southern Austrian city of Salzburg situated hunting lodge of the 17th century. Today the rich folklore museum of the Salzburg Museum is set up in the monthly castle . The collection, founded in 1904, provides an insight into the Salzburg folk culture with exhibits of customs , popular piety, home decor and folk medicine. The Hellbrunn mountain is the southernmost city mountain in the city of Salzburg . It is entirely located within the palace gardens of Hellbrunn Palace and the Hellbrunn Zoo. The mountain has a settlement history of at least four thousand years, stretching from the Neolithic to the pre-Roman La Tène period. It is one of the iconic location in this area and it offers nice views too.

It is 400 years old and the oldest preserved stately avenue in the world. The total distance is about 2.5 kilometers and is a protected part of the landscape. It was created at the behest of Prince Archbishop Markus Sittikus, who wanted to take the straight route from the city to nature. An impressive 621 trees still line the path, along which there are many stately houses. The avenue is car-free and reserved for walkers, runners and cyclists.
