Duchal Castle was an extensive 13th century fortified site. The castle is naturally well defended on a piece of ground cut off steeply on the N and S by the confluence of the Green Water and the Blackwater burn. The castle stands at the bottom of the valley of the River Gryfe on a peninsula created by the Blacketty and Green Waters which have their confluence beyond the two deep gorges.

Formakin House, known locally as the Monkey House, was built in the early twentieth century by John Augustus Holms. The house is protected as a category A listed building, and other structures including the arched entrance gateway and bothy are category B listed. The grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.

Windy Hill is a 316 metres high hill in Renfrewshire, Scotland. It is one of the TuMPs of the Lowlands.
