The Withernsea Pier, Promenade, Gas & General Improvement Co. was formed in 1871. Work on the 1196 foot structure began in 1875 to the design of Thomas Cargill. Today it was busy, with families of starlings feeding on the edge of the main pond. A pied and a yellow wagtail hovered just over the water surface capturing insects. The Yellow Wagtail was carrying food for the young.

St Andrew's stands in a large peaceful churchyard at the southern end of the hamlet. An award-winning museum depicts the changing patterns of village life over the past centuries, which was based in an 18th Century farmhouse. Here you can see a Victorian bedroom, a dairy, washhouse, workshops, barn, cart bays full of tools and implements from local industry, railway memorabilia, and of course an almost full range of Hornsea Pottery dating from 1949 to the factory’s closure in 2000.

Beverley Beck is a short canal in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The beck runs from Grovehill Lock on the River Hull at Beverley west for about 0.8 miles into the town of Beverley. There's a nice footpath running along the pretty beck which you can pick up just to the east of the Minster and train station. The path runs for just under a mile until it joins with the River Hull. The canal is now it is home to the historic barge 'Syntan' owned by the Beverley Barge Preservation Society.

Hessle Foreshore is situated in front of the Humber Bridge Country Park on the River Humber. Being at the start of the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail it is great for walkers. You can either go down onto the stones, or you can follow Jean’s Walk all the way along to the main part of the Foreshore. The path is part of The Yorkshire Wolds Way and is great for bikes or scooters and you can follow it along the banks of the river Humber.

Humber Bridge Country Park is a beautiful 48 acre wood with open meadows and wildlife ponds and so more. The majestic chalk cliffs which surround the park on three sides and look like they are snow-covered give rise to the park's local name of Little Switzerland. The tree-covered chalk terraces of the old chalk quarry offer dramatic views over the River Humber and towering Humber Bridge. One of the nice walking trails and also a good place to spend some leisure time.
