20 Attractions to Explore Near Humber Bridge Country Park

Hessle Foreshore is situated in front of the Humber Bridge Country Park on the River Humber. Being at the start of the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail it is great for walkers. You can either go down onto the stones, or you can follow Jean’s Walk all the way along to the main part of the Foreshore. The path is part of The Yorkshire Wolds Way and is great for bikes or scooters and you can follow it along the banks of the river Humber.

The historic building is located just off the A614 near the village of Skidby and surrounded by picturesque countryside. Built-in 1821, the windmill has been grinding grain for nearly two centuries! It produces its own wholemeal flour, ground between one of its three pairs of millstones and powered by its four 12-meter sails, each weighing more than 1.25 tonnes apiece.

The Grade 1 Listed building was originally bought by the Beverley Town Keepers in 1501 to be used as a Guildhall, and has seen continuous civic use since. The building is still used for civic and ceremonial occasions and now also holds the Beverley Community Museum. There is also a Magistrates' Room with original 17th Century furniture and an elegant Mayor's Parlour with a silver collection dating back over several centuries.

Beverley Beck is a short canal in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The beck runs from Grovehill Lock on the River Hull at Beverley west for about 0.8 miles into the town of Beverley. There's a nice footpath running along the pretty beck which you can pick up just to the east of the Minster and train station. The path runs for just under a mile until it joins with the River Hull. The canal is now it is home to the historic barge 'Syntan' owned by the Beverley Barge Preservation Society.

Blacktoft Sands is part of the Humber estuary - one of the most important wildlife sites in the UK. Six shallow saline lagoons provide good birding throughout the year. An area of grazing marsh provides a home for wildfowl and waders through the autumn and spring and includes a large seasonally flooded area.

Whitgift Lighthouse at Ousefleet stands as a reminder of an earlier age, one when the county’s rivers were a lifeline for heavy industry. This lighthouse was a vital touchstone for vessels going to and from Goole and onwards to the North Sea. The whole length of the Rivers Ouse, Trent, and Humber is lined with marker lights, but Whitgift is the only full sized traditional lighthouse on the Ouse and Trent section.
