Cala Goloritzé is a beach located in the municipal area of Baunei in the southern part of the Gulf of Orosei in the province of Nuoro. The beach, one of the most evocative in Sardinia, born from a landslide in 1962, is famous for the 143 meters high pinnacle overlooking the cove, also known to rock climbers for its sport climbing routes; the best known is the Symphony of the Windmills, opened by Manolo and Alessandro Gogna in the late seventies.

Cala dei Gabbiani is a marvelous cove located in east Sardinia, about 18 kilometers south-east of Cala Gonone, and 12 kilometers north-east of Baunei. Gabbiani beach has a length of over 230 meters, and near the northern section it can get up to 50 meters wide. Compared to most coves on the jagged Ogliastra coast, that’s an unusually large stretch of sand.

The National Park of the Gulf of Orosei and Gennargentu was a national park established by a decree of the President of the Republic of 30 March 1998 and published in the Official Gazette of 14 May 1998, number 110. It was located in Sardinia, in the territories of the provinces of Nuoro and South Sardinia. It ceased to exist on April 7, 2008, with sentence number 626 issued by the Regional Administrative Court of Sardinia due to the opposition of the municipalities involved.
