The d'Avalos palace is located in Vasto, in the province of Chieti, once the residence of the Marquises of Vasto, until 1806. At a peak of 230 feet it's miles the 8th tallest "conventional lighthouse" in the international, and the 2nd tallest lighthouse in Italy after the Lantern of Genoa. It is placed on a strategically crucial spot in Via Madonna Della Penna on the port of Vasto. Built-in 1906, it has time and again been the problem of reconstruction. In 1944, the retreating German navy destroyed a part of the vintage lighthouse and it became demolished.
