About the Activity
This trip leads us to the stunningly beautiful Ötschergräben, also called the “Grand Canyon of Austria”. The water of the river dazzles and sparkles in all shades of green and the mountain scenery is just breathtaking. Not to mention the many waterfalls along the way. The best: it is possible to plunge into the river! The Ötschergräben are a system of gorges, located in Lower Austria on the border with Styria. The Ötscher mountain is 1.893 meters high and also known as "Vaterberg" by locals, which means father mountain. Highlights of this tour: • Spectacular alpine landscape • Crystal clear river with possibility to take a bath • Many waterfalls along the trail • Rare and protected alpine wild flowers • Alpine feeling on only 2000 feet above sea level • Adventurous alpine climb Find plenty of reviews here: daslebenspueren.at/reviews/ Price includes 23 % commission for Viator.8 hours

Travel Itinerary
Hi, I'm Karin, founder of daslebenspueren.at. I organise and accompany guided hikes in the vicinity of Vienna. With a maximum of 4 people, the groups are small and private. It allows me to respond individually to the wishes and needs of the participants. The Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park is the largest one in Lower Austria. The reserve is characterised by pristine, untamed landscapes and areas that have been cultivated for centuries. The most formative element of the landscape is the Ötscher mountain with a height of 6.200 ft. At the basecamp we pay a small entry fee and start our hike. The first part is mostly downhill, passing by several waterfalls. The rest of the trail is following the river, mostly on narrow wooden bars. Along the way, we find many stony beaches, perfect for a swim or lunch break in the middle of nature. 1,5 hours later we reach the mountain hut - a break can be made either there or along the trail. After visiting the last waterfall we make our way back through a pleasant shady forest road. In the end, we take a scenic train to reach our starting point before heading back to Vienna. Price includes 23% commission for Viator. Reviews daslebenspueren.at/reviews/
