Things to know
About the Activity
This is a full day activity which combines glacier hiking and kayaking, and goes via one of the most impressive sights in all of Iceland; one that very few travellers get to see! Crossing the glacier to be rewarded with a magnificent view of the glacier calving front, where huge icebergs break off to start their final journey towards the sea, is something that stays long in the memory. To paddle between icebergs in beautiful blue water is the best way to experience Iceland's greatest natural wonder, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.7 hours

Travel Itinerary
- Maximum 6 travellers in this tour.
Hike over Europe's largest glacier to and kayak on Iceland's most famous glacier lagoon: Jökulsárlón.
This tour combines glacier hiking and kayaking- but with a twist! By using packrafts (lightweight inflatable kayaks), we are entirely self-sufficient and can carry our equipment across the glacier to reach one of the most impressive sights in Iceland- the calving glacier front of Breiðamerkurjökull. From here, we inflate our kayaks and set off paddling back towards civilisation.
Total hiking distance: 3km (2km on glacier)
Total kayaking distance: 8km
The hiking portion is expected to take around 1 hour. The kayaking should take approximately 3 hours, with at least one break to rest, eat etc.
You will be expected to carry a 10kg backpack for 3km. The backpack contains your boat, drysuit, PFD, paddle, extra clothing and food/water.
As this tour is a full-day tour, covering complex terrain both hiking and kayaking, it is aimed at travellers in good physical shape. View Location
