Located at the foot of the Rhune or “Larun”, you will find in this village, a rich history and a real local atmosphere. Former smuggling country, its winding trails are very popular with hikers. A village close to the Basque coast...
During this walk, we will cross the charming village of Ascain to take the Col de Saint-Ignace which culminates at 759m starting point of the famous little train of the Rhune.
A few “burlingues”...and you will take height to discover pigs of the breed “Black Pigeon” in semi-free range, Pottoks and hopefully some raptors. You will be dazzled by the view of the bay of Saint Jean de Luz.

Sare, FranceSare is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in northeastern France. It is backed by the Pyrenean chain, which forms around the basin occupied by the village a circus open to the east and north. Its geological history explains the formation of caves that were occupied during the Aurignacian; the Bronze Age left many funerary monuments on the tracks and mountain plateaus of the commune.
