Solomon Islands Memorial Garden
Honiara International Airport, , Honiara, Solomon IslandsThis tour option begins at the Solomon Islands memorial garden. The memorial garden is located east of Honiara, at the Henderson field, the spot of the battle of Guadalcanal.
The memorial garden is a lovely place to visit and reflect on what happened during the WWII. It is lined up with candle trees and plaques of various shapes commemorating soldiers who have died during WWII in Solomon Islands. The plaques beautifully set out making the whole place very moving, making one feel sad as it brings to mind what happened in this place during WWII. There are no graves in the site, it was so simple, quiet and green.
In the garden travelers can take pictures and ask questions relating to the garden. Also, they can sit on available benches and reflect or pause in a moment of silence to pay respect for people who have died. Take a moment to thank them. Take off your head covering, if any, when you enter.
Admission is free and the garden is spacious, it can accommodate more than twenty people.
