About the Activity
Mattancherry is a microcosm of a bygone era - of traders, travellers, culture, culinary traditions of more than three dozen communities with roots spread across all corners of the country. These communities peacefully co-exist with each other in a small radius of 3 kilometers. A perfect model of unity in diversity. Thanks to the benevolent rulers and the multiculturalism, Mattancherry thrived as the capital and the seat of the Cochin Kingdom until it was replaced by Ernakulam. The walk will give you a glimpse of some of these communities that made Kochi their home, an help uncover layers of historical and cultural contributions from them before you realize that this is what makes Kochi what it is.2 hours to 3 hours
