Lady Elizabeth Shipwreck
Walebone Cove, Stanley, Falkland Islands, FIQQ 1ZZBuilt in Sunderland in 1879 the three masted barque Lady Elizabeth (Liz) is now an impressive shipwreck in Stanley harbour.
In 1913 she was damaged whilst rounding Cape Horn. On her way to Stanley harbour she struck the Uranie Rock which caused further damage including a hole in her hull. Upon inspection she was condemned and declared as unseaworthy. She was used as a warehouse before breaking her moorings in a storm in 1936 and drifting to her current day location.
Hundreds of thousands of stunning photos of her have been taken over the years. Her backdrop is Stanley harbour, Stanley and a number of mountains. When the tide is very low it's possible to walk out on the sand and touch her.10 minutes • Admission Ticket FreeView LocationMeeting and Pickup
