Nine Arches Bridge
Ella, Sri LankaThe Nine Arch Bridge (Sinhala: ආරුක්කු නමයේ පාලම,) also called the Bridge in the Sky,[3] is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.[4] The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers.[5][6] The chief designer and project manager of the 'upcountry railway line of Ceylon' project was D. J. Wimalasurendra, a distinguished Ceylonese engineer and inventor. The designer of the viaduct was Harold Cuthbert Marwood of Railway Construction Department of Ceylon Government Railway. The 1923 report titled "Construction of a Concrete Railway Viaduct in Ceylon" published by the Engineering Association of Ceylon has details of all the records including the plans and drawings. 30 minutes • Admission Ticket FreeView Location

Karandagolla, Ella, Sri Lanka, 90090Nildiya Pokuna, located at a distance of 13.3 km from the Ella, is a great place to have an adventurous experience. Legend has it that King Rawana brought Sita from India and kept her in a very comfortable and very safe place. You too can have this experience as soon as possible, but do not ruin the place. Ella rock day tour
Passara road, Ella, Sri Lanka, 90090History of Ella Rock Ella Rock holds significant historical importance in Sri Lanka. It was once a strategic vantage point during the colonial era, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and tea plantations. The rock has witnessed the passage of time and the region's transformation. Ella Rock was an observation point for British administrators and surveyors during the British colonial period. They utilized the elevated position of the rock to oversee the vast tea estates and monitor the movement of people and goods in the area. The rock's prominence made it an ideal spot for a comprehensive regional view. The colonial influence in the area also led to construction of a railway line passing through Ella. This development opened up the region to more visitors and facilitated the transportation of goods, further contributing to the growth of the local economy. In addition to its colonial significance, Ella Rock has cultural importance within the local community. 2 hours • Admission Ticket Not Included
