Nine Arches Bridge
No 1, Getehewelapathana Passara Road, Ella, Sri Lanka, 90090The Nine Arch Bridge (Sinhala: ආරුක්කු නමයේ පාලම,) also called the Bridge in the Sky,[3] is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.[4] The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers.[5][6] The chief designer and project manager of the 'upcountry railway line of Ceylon' project was D. J. Wimalasurendra, a distinguished Ceylonese engineer and inventor. The designer of the viaduct was Harold Cuthbert Marwood of Railway Construction Department of Ceylon Government Railway. The 1923 report titled "Construction of a Concrete Railway Viaduct in Ceylon" published by the Engineering Association of Ceylon has details of all the records including the plans and drawings. 30 minutes • Admission Ticket FreeView Location3
Lipton’s Seat
Lipton Seat Road, Haputale, Sri Lanka, 90160Lipton’s Seat is located in Haputale mountain range of Badulla in the Uva Province. It sits at an altitude of 1, 970 meters overlooking the lush Dambetanne Tea Estate. With one of the most impressive birds-eye viewpoints, it is named so after Sir Thomas Lipton, the renowned Scottish aristocrat and tea planter. It is the point from which he used it to scrutinise his flourishing tea empire.
Lipton´s Seat is best visited at sunrise, and if lucky one can observe four provinces (Uva, Sabargamuwa, Eastern and Central), Handapanagala Lake, Chandrika Lake, Udawalawe Lake, Wedihiti Kanda Mountain and Hambantota Port in the Southern coast lay magnificently before you. Lipton’s Seat is a very popular tourist attraction that has managed to gain a lot of attention over the past couple of years – for many reasons. Aside from the fact that it is known for its spectacular view, it is a peaceful place to relax with family and friends and enjoy a hearty picnic.

Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory Tour-Ella
Built in 1940, during the British rule, the factory is perched 1,230 meters above sea level in the cool climes of the Uva region, located 200 Kms from Colombo and 6 Kms from Ella, a picturesque little hamlet in the Uva province. The tea factory was acquired by Mr A.P.D Abeyrathne, Chairman of U.H.E Group, in 1970 as a small-scale factory producing only 20,000 kg per month back in the day.
Located 1,230 meters above sea level, Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory is within a short distance from the Halpé Temple and is en-route to Badulla. We pride ourselves of being one of the best tea manufacturers in Sri Lankan and awarded for being one of the largest producers of Ceylon tea. Surrounded by lush green tea fields, the factory offers a number of activities, from trekking through lush green tea gardens, tea picking, learning tea manufacturing process to finally savouring your own cuppa to complete tea journey.
